Early 19th century French School, young lady reading - oil on canvas.

The scene takes place under Louis XVI reign : she is wearing late 18th century clothes, she is sitting on a Louis XVI style armchair, there is a porcelain biscuit on the Louis XVI writing desk in the background, Directoire painted wall paper.

The painting is set into a Louis XVI style gold leaf gilt wood frame. The set has been cleaned ; it is in excellent condition.
