18th century French school, portrait of Joseph Melchior Marquis de Lestang-Parade (1737-1813) wearing the uniform of Lieutenant of Royal Horseback Grenadier, sitting in his interior (probably the hotel de Lestang-Parade in Aix in Provence, 18 rue de l'Opéra). On the wall to the right is the portrait of his wife Marie Pierrette de Ricard de Bregançon (1741 - 1824). The portrait is identified by various stickers on the back and is presented in a rich gold leaf gilt wood Louis XVI style frame 19th century). The portrait was painted circa 1770.
Beautiful family painting, very colorful and typical of the art of living of the aristocracy in Provence during the 18th century. Large format.
It is in excellent condition, painting and very rich frame both cleaned and restored.
