Early 19th century French school or Italian school : feast at Pharisee Simon's home after Paolo Veronese's original work (circa 1560, exhibited at Royal Palace of Turin), oil on canvas set into an Empire gold leaf gilt wood frame. Circa 1820.
Very refined painting ; the crowd's movement is very well pictured with expressive attitudes and gestures, highly contrasted colors, beautiful facial features ; the artist painted a very faithful reproduction of the original Master's work, in a spectacular format.
Strong decorative effect.
Original canvas ; gilt is fresh. The set has been cleaned by our gilder.
Frame : 134.8cm x 109cm
