Early 18th century French school picturing a mythological scene : the chariot of Venus pulled by doves in presence of Cupids. The scene takes place in a Mediterranean landscape - our painting is probably an Avignonese school. Regency oil on canvas circa 1720-1730 set into its beautiful frame (carved oak gilt with gold leaf).

Beautiful composition, very neat (fine and expressive faces, birds, details of the chariot), cheerful with light and fresh colors.

Large, very decorative format ; our painting reminds 18th century subtle delicateness.

Painting cleaned, in excellent condition ; 18th century frame restored and gilt with gold leaf in the 19th century in very good condition too, with small restorations.
