18th century French school, painting used as a Mantel cover.
This 18th century painting was made and intended for use as a fireplace cover, sort of trapdoor that is placed in front of the fireplace to close it and avoid drafts inside the house when the fire is not lit.
Oil on canvas mounted on panel, presented in a gold leaf gilt frame, set on a frame which is fixed on the fireplace.
Frame : 107cm x 78,5cm (width can be a little cropped)
