Beautiful pair of Louis XVI medaillons armchairs, 18th century circa 1780.
Proportions of these so-called à la Reine armchairs (they are larger than cabriolets) are very elegant.
They are designed to furnish a castle or a big apartment ; traditionally these wide armchairs are supposed to be placed on both sides of a chest of drawers.
They are covered with a gorgeous blue / grey silk decorated with landscapes, leaves, fountains, 18th century architecture...
The armchairs were entirely restored according to 18th century methods. Therefore they are in perfect condition.
