Pair of Louis XVI sophisticated armchairs - France circa 1780.
Finely carved pattern and beautiful Louis XVI style pink silk that pictures an allegory of geography.
Our pair of luxury seats, are undoubtedly the work of a great Parisian seat maker (although they are not stamped), very probably Jean-Baptiste Lelarge III, master in 1775 : the quality of the model, the decor and the presence of this quite uncommon large overflowing shell make this attribution very likely (there are seats of Lelarge with such large central motifs). Jean-Baptiste III Lelarge is one of the best seat makers of Louis XVI reign.
In excellent condition ; our seats have been completely restored with the highest quality standards: luxurious 100% silk fabric of Tassinari and Chatel. They are real museum pieces.
