Empire mahogany and ormolu commode / chest of drawers, so called a l'anglaise shaped in French, the drawers being covered with 2 panels. A beautiful blue Turquin marble on top.
Early 19th century production, circa 1810-1820. Not stamped, but our piece is a top of the range production, undoubtedly by one of the best cabinet makers active in Paris at the early 19th century (Jacob Desmalter or Charles Lemarchand), with much refined gilt bronze decoration that could be the work of famous Parisian bronze maker Thomire.
Beautiful amateur piece in excellent condition, restored with a new varnish made in a traditional way. The marble is intact, mercury gilt is very beautiful.
