Rare pair of Empire sterling silver candelabras, back from Egypt style, made at the end of French Empire.
Can be used as candlesticks as well since the top pat is removable.
2nd cock 1st title hallmark (1809-1819) and silversmith signature of Marguerite Hoguet (widow of Pierre Paraud), Empire period around 1813. Marguerite Hoguet took over from Pierre Paraud at his death in 1812. Our candelabras was a Pierre Paraud's design executed shortly after his death around 1813.
Very nice model, without a monogram. Empire sterling silver candlesticks are very rare, and candelabras are kind of a myth. Our pieces have probably a prestigious provenance of an Empire dignitary (unidentified).
They are in very good condition. Trace of old restoration on a branch.
