Magnificent French antique sterling silver oil and vinegar set, early 19th century (circa 1820). Beautiful silver work, finely chiseled with laurels and palm leaves, typical from Empire decoration, enhanced with fruit baskets. The original crystal bottles are likely to be made at Le Creusot, also circa 1820. The silver structure is stamped with the Old Man hallmark 1st standard from Paris (in use from 1819 to 1838, equivalent to current Minerva 1st standard), the guarantee stamps used at that time, and silversmith Jean-Charles Cahier's stamp. That suggests that this oil & vinegar set comes from some prestigious house, since JC Cahier was French Kings Louis XVIII and Charles X's official silversmith. It is in perfect condition. No lack, no distortion, no bump or hollow.
