French antique sterling silver oil and vinegar set, early 19th century (circa 1810).
Beautiful silver work, finely chiseled with typical French Restoration decoration ; grape and vine leafs, a mask, lyra-shaped handle, rose and palm leaves, cornucopia. The whole piece stands on 4 lion feet.
The 2 diamond-cut crystal bottles are manufactured by Le Creusot (Trianon pattern, that was manufactured by St Louis later on).
The silver structure is stamped with 2nd Coq or Cock (rooster) 1st standard from Paris (in use from 1809 to 1819, equivalent to current Minerva 1st standard), the guarantee stamps used at that time, silversmith's stamp - Jean-Pierre Nicolas Bibron.
Our item is quite ahead of its time, since Jean-Pierre Nicolas Bibron started to be active in 1797, and the rooster hallmark dates 1809-1819.
It is in excellent condition given age and type.
