19th century Italian painting : Madonna and Child with St. John (known as Madonna of the Chair), oil on canvas set into its impressive squared gold leaf gilt wood frame with a circular view (original frame) ; it pictures Virgin Mary seating on a chair, embracing Jesus Child, Saint John the Baptist nearby holding the Cross and adoring the Child. The three characters fill the view completely.

The original "La Madonna della Seggiola", famous painting by Raphael (Raffello Sanzio da Urbino, 1483 - 1520) was executed circa 1512, during his Roman period (1508 - 1520) ; it is currently part of permanent collection of Pitti Palace, Florence, Italia.

Our fine work could be a souvenir of the Grand Tour (European cultural trips that young aristocrat people went through from 17th century to 19th century).

Our version is a high quality one, very well executed : refined facial features, gentle colors ; Mother Mary is very expressive and tender. The spectacular gilt frame also makes it very decorative. Ideal to complete a neoclassical interior decoration.

It is in very good condition after over 200 years, on its original canvas. Both frame and painting have been cleaned by our restorers.
