18th century Bacchanalia painting, oil on panel, Louis XVI period.
Our uncommon painting pictures a bacchanalia with young Bacchus eating grapes and a billy goat chewing grapes behind. The painting is signed Nivard ; the artist had fun simulating a broken glass on an antique engraving in trompe-l'oeil style.
