Early 18th century French Baroque school (late Louis XIV or Regence), Christ Resurrection, oil on panel presented in a 19th century Louis XIV style frame (gold leaf gildt).

Our painting is a altarpiece project (altar top in a church or chapel). Christ in glory comes out of the tomb, with an angel at his feet. Below the Roman guards seized with terror.

Several major 18th century French painters like Noël Coypel or Nicolas Bertin made similar scenes. Up to date we have not identified the church where the final painting is exposed.

Very good condition, painting cleaned, gold leaf frame was cleaned to.
