18th century French school, portrait of Louis Joseph de France first Dauphin. Oil on canvas set into a Louis XVI style gold leaf gilt wood frame.

Our portrait shows the elder son of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette who died at the age of 8 in 1789. The young prince is presented in his intimacy (probably Marie Antoinette's hamlet), making soap bubbles, allegory of the fragility of life.

In excellent condition, on its original canvas. Both painting and frame were cleaned and restored.

Frame : 70cm x 55cm
Canvas : 46.5cm x 37.5cm
