Pair of sculpted cork landscapes picturing Stolzenfels Castle (Germany) and a mill in Black Forest, a light blue watercolor sky in the background. Both sculptures are set into an oval gilt wood frame. Napoleon III period circa 1850 - 1860.
Beautiful, much refined items, typical of souvenirs of the Grand Tour (European cultural trips that young aristocrat people went through from 17th century to 19th century). Grand Tour items are frequently associated with Italian souvenirs : this work shows that the Grand Tour went far beyond Italian borders.
In excellent condition ; frame have been restored by our gilder, original blown glasses.
