18th century French School, pair of family portraits - oils on canvas, Louis XVI period (circa 1775-1780).
Our paintings show a couple of teenagers, probably a brother and sister (some resemblance) or maybe young engaged people.
The young gentleman wears a powdered wig, a court gray silk jacket with a delicate flowery waistcoat. The lady carries a high wig called "à la Dauphine", a simple dress with a transparent scarf.
Our portraits are completely original : they kept their 18th century canvas and their oval Louis XVI gilt frame. The frame has simply been cleaned, as well as the varnish. Both are in good condition.
Frame height : 65cm and 67cm
Frame diameter : 53cm and 52.5cm
