Early 19th century French school : 3 stages of life after Francois Gerard, Empire allegoric painting picturing a woman (the Life) holding the hand to 3 men who represent an stage of life each : a baby, a grown man and an old man. In the background an Italian antique-style landscape where you can make out Naples and Mount Vesuvius.

Colors are fresh and bright, refined painting giving a strong decorative effect. Our oil on canvas is set into an Empire gold leaf gilt wood frame. Ideal to complete an Empire decoration.

In excellent condition, canvas and frame has been cleaned, gold leaf perfectly preserved.
