Large 19th century engraving titled Consecration rehearsal set into a beautiful gold leaf gilt wood Empire frame.
Titled Consecration rehearsal with an explanatory legend : "A few days before the Rite, Napoleon wants Isabey, draftsman of the Cabinet, to present the main phases of the Ceremony in seven watercolors in order to judge appearance and places definitely. Unable to execute such a work in two days, Isabey ordered a hundred dolls which he dressed according to the adjusted costumes, took a plan of Paris Cathedral, returned to Fontainebleau and gave the rehearsal in front of the Emperor, the Pope, the Empress, Hortense, Fesch, Antonelli and Junot.
