Large Empire engraving set into a gold leaf gilt wood frame, early 19th century circa 1820.
It pictures a scene of Empire period, the wounded Trumpeter, by Horace Vernet (1789-1863). This is one of Vernet's most famous compositions. This beautiful painting executed in 1819 for the Duke of Berry - now part of the Wallace Collection in London.
It is in very good condition. The frame was cleaned by our gilder. A few stains on the engraving.
