Late 16th century / early 17th century Dutch school circa 1600, Holy Family in the Nativity scene, large oil on canvas (400 years old).
Our painting represents the Holy Virgin praying between two angels in front of Jesus Child in the manger, warmed by the breath of the bullock and the donkey. On the right, the shepherds come to bring their offerings and play their music. In heaven, an angels choir sings Gloria. On the left Saint Joseph with his flowered staff presents the scene.
Looking at this beautiful painting, we hear a children's choir singing the dark stable by Praetorius, a work of the same century that describes the scene perfectly : very beautiful representation very fine, rich in colors and details, including faces and details of clothing.
Henri IV period circa 1600, it is typical of the works of the counter-reform.
Our painting will be sold with a beautiful 19th century gilt wood frame, which we did not have time to adapt (work in progress).
Our painting is in very good condition (put on a new canvas during 19th century).
