Rare pair of Louis XVI cabriolet armchairs, gold leaf gilt wood, wool and silk tapestry (Beauvais ?) featuring les Fables de La Fontaine. Louis XVI period, late 18th century circa 1785-1790.

Although not stamped, these seats are undoubtedly the work of a great Parisian seat maker. We sold a pair of gilt armchairs signed Jean Baptiste Boulard a few years ago : this pair is quite similar in terms of quality.

Our set of armchairs is in very good condition. Original tapestry in good condition with quite fresh colors and some local wear. Antique gilt a little attenuated and accidented (on small surfaces), but the patina is beautiful and our pair of chairs looks really great.
