Pair of lyra-shaped chairs, finely carved solid mahogany, horsehair cover. Louis XVI period circa 1785 - 1790. One of the chairs bears Deshayes stamp, both have Palais de Compiegne mark (a C with a crown on top), one has M.E mark underneath too (Mobilier de l'Empereur, i.e. Emperor's furniture).
In very good condition. French varnish has just been renewed in a traditional way. We had them covered with a horsehair fabric. A sculpted shell has been restored previously.
