Beautiful so-called a la Reine chair, finely carved, emerald green silk (Tassinari & Chatel) cover. Louis XV period Parisian work, second half of 18th century circa 1760. It has Etienne Meunier's stamp under the belt.
Etienne Meunier was the first - and certainly the most renowned - of a dynasty of Parisian seatmakers. His life is relatively unknown. Towards the middle of the 18th century, he officiated rue de Cléry and worked for famous merchants like Pierre Migeon and Etienne Igou. All Louis XV seats bearing his stamp are of very good quality. He produced a lot armchairs, always with refined sculptures.
Very beautiful model, very elegant, excellent proportions and sculptures.
It is in excellent condition ; our seat is covered as new with a very beautiful green silk (of which we have bought a large quantity, allowing us to offer several matching Louis XV seats in the future to form a larger set).
