Rare set of 4 identical cabriolet armchairs, Louis XVI period, stamp of Nadal l'Aine.
Jean-Rene Nadal (1733-1783) comes from a famous seat makers dynasty, established rue de Cléry in Paris at the "Lion d'Argent". Master is 1756, he is one of the greatest 18th century French seat makers. Most of his production was made for the Royal Crown and for the Comte d'Artois (brother of King Louis XVI).
His seats are always high quality, just as our seats : the form is simple, but the comparison of a Nadal chair with another similar seat is incontrovertible : proportions are perfect as well as the finish.
Real sets of 4 are very rare, they have often been separated during inheritance processes.
In excellent condition, fully restored, covered with a golden mocha silk satin (Tassinari & Chatel).
