Rare Chinese porcelain Qianlong dog (name of the 4th Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, whose period of reign, 1735-1796, is considered the golden age of Chinese civilization).
Made of red coral enamelled porcelain, the head slightly leaning to the right, half-open mouth. He wears a green pompom necklace and a gilt bell. The dog is the symbol of fidelity in China.
It is a special production for export to Europe, late 18th century.
Qianlong dogs are often in pairs to form a set. A pair sold $ 17500 on December 21, 2009 at Christies in Paris, another € 28,000 on March 29, 2013 at Daguerre and Brissoneau in Paris. Ours is alone, but absolutely intact (only a few cooking cracks) whereas this type of object often presents accidents.
