Tall statue the Bather, after the model Falconet sculpted in 1758, permanently exhibited in the Louvre. Terracotta-style patinated plaster, late 19th century period, Louis XV style.
The young girl, about to enter the water, is intended as an allegory of the passage from the state of girl to woman. The statue was often copied (marble, terracotta and biscuit), and this late 19th century specimen is very well executed. Our bather is a tall piece (81cm), very decorative with a natural movement. It is an ideal piece to place in a hall or on a large piece of furniture.
It is in excellent condition.
