Tall marble statue, The Bather, after the model Falconet sculpted in 1758, permanently exhibited in the Louvre. The young girl, about to enter the water is intended as an allegory of the passage from the state of girl to woman. The statue was often copied, marble, terracotta and biscuit, and this specimen from late 19th century is very well executed. Our bather is a very tall piece (83cm), very decorative with a natural movement. It is an ideal piece to place in a hall or on a tall piece of furniture (see the statue placed on our large console buffet)... or in a park outside, why not ? Our statue has a Falconnet signature.
