Rare chiseled bronze Imperial Eagle, so-called Tuileries Eagle, Empire style, Second Empire production, under Emperor Napoleon III's reign.
It is an element of the Imperial splendor that adorned grids and lanterns all around the Tuileries Palace and other imperial residences, which were dismantled during the Commune pillaging in 1871.
We ordered a made to measure marble pedestal to highlight it.
Beautiful historical object, rare and in excellent condition. Gilt is worn out : the object was originally exhibited outdoors, therefore subject to bad weather.
