Small mahogany chest of drawers. Mobile furniture, it is wheels mounted and opens with 5 drawers, rare commode variant where the moving marble reveals a psyche mirror.
Fine Parisian production, end of Empire period circa 1810. Beautiful, finely chiseled ormolu decoration.
Although it has no stamp, our commode reminds Molitor's work ; it might be a piece of furniture issued by his workshop or a good follower. 2 years ago we sold a piece of furniture signed Molitor, very close to this one in terms of spirit, quality and finish.
Beautiful collector's piece of furniture, refined finishe and a rare format.
It is in excellent condition ; it has been restored with a new varnish made in a traditional way. Gilt is extremely well preserved. Original mercury glass was broken : it was replaced with a mirror from the same period with a beautiful sparkling tin.
