Beautiful Empire mahogany commode / chest of drawers, a blue Turquin marble on top, ormolu (mercury gilt bronze) decoration in the war register (helmeted warriors busts, arrows, military trophies with helmets, shields, banners...). We can guess this piece of furniture was a special order for some senior officer under the French Empire.
Parisian work, pure Empire style, very refined finishes, early 19th century circa 1805. Our commode is stamped Jacques Muller. The ormolu ornamentation is probably the work of Thomire after Percier & Fontaine models.
In very good condition. French polish has been cleaned by our cabinet maker. No accident. The key is missing.
