Charming rosewood & violet wood commode - chest of drawers, rich Rococo ormolu ornament, pink marble on top. Louis XV period, Parisian work of the 1760s. It was intended to be placed between two windows. Stamp of Jean Holthausen and JME.
Jean Holthausen, master in 1764 came from Germany - as a great majority of Parisian cabinetmakers of the time. Active during 18th century under Louis XV period until Louis XVI period, many of its pieces of furniture kept influence of Regency style, like our piece.
Our commode is in excellent condition. Fully restored with a new varnish. Original marble and bronzes well preserved.
