Rare Louis XVI commode, rosewood, mahogany and green-coloured box tree fine marquetry.
Very uncommon model that opens with two doors simulating drawers : our commode can be used as a chest of drawers in a room or a sideboard in the dining room. 3 drawers on the top level, a grey marble on top. Late 18th century Parisian production circa 1780.
Not surprisingly, our piece is signed Pierre Francois Guignard (P. F. GUIGNARD) - great Parisian cabinet maker between 1767 and 1794 - and bears JME stamp.
Very elegant and unusual piece of furniture in excellent condition. Varnish has been restored in a traditional way. Original mercury gilt bronze (ormolu) decoration.
