Japanese-inspired Baccarat crystal vase, beautiful Art Nouveau production enhanced with a fine gold gilt chrysanthemum pattern. Late 19th century production or circa 1900
Traditionaly chrysanthemum is seen as the Imperial emblem, and more commonly today as a national emblem.
Both shape and chrysanthemum pattern obviously make our vase a production meant for Japanese customers. Baccarat had opened a branch in Japan at the end of 19th century indeed.
Our vase is not signed. The shape is listed in the Japanese Old Baccarat Tableware reference book.
It is in very good condition. Gilt is perfectly preserved on the chrysanthemum pattern, attenuated on the top edge and the base. Scratches under the base due to usage. No chip, no accident.
Height : 25.2cm
