Beautiful Empire ormolu mantel bar, mercury gilt bronze, early 19th century circa 1800-1805.

Patinated bronze young Etruscan ladies are sitting on the end of the bar. They remind of the woman reading on a famous clock by Claude Galle (see last picture). Medicis Lions decorate the bar on either side too.

Beautiful collector in good condition, ideal to complete an Empire decoration. Mercury gilt is original, a little attenuated by heat.
