Beautiful Empire ormolu mantel bar - mercury gilt bronze, Empire period, early 19th century circa 1815-1820.

Originally decorated with vestal virgin on the left worshipping Ceres on the right.

The side parts move to enlarge or reduce the size of the bar according to the mantel width (97cm to 108cm long).

Beautiful item in good condition, ideal to complete an Empire period decoration. Mercury gilt is original, a little attenuated.
