Antique French mustard pot, Empire style, sterling silver and blue cobalt glass.
Beautiful pattern richly decorated with laurels, palms, masks, acorn handle and fine frieze on the base, based on 4 lion feet.
French provincial hallmark 2nd cock or coq 1st standard (.950 purity silver) (in use from 1809 to 1819), silversmith and medium guarantee stamp on the base. In addition, a specific stamp allows us to date very precisely this piece of work : greyhound head used to be stamped between august and november of year 1819.
The mustard spoon is not original but it's the right model, close production period (old man stamp, i.e. right after 1819), and it fits the mustard pot very well.
In very good condition, given its close-to-200 years old. Slight distortions on the lid and the base, but not very obvious though : the item still looks great.
