Empire vermeil (sterling silver covered with fine gold) oil and vinegar set ; rare, beautiful early 19th century model decorated with griffins, typical Empire symbol used after Napoleon's campaign in Egypt.
The two crystal bottles are early 19th century production by Le Creusot.
It has various stamps :
- French hallmark rooster 1st title (in use from 1798 to 1809 for .950 purity silver)
- French silversmith association (in use at the end of 18th century onwards)
- Paris guarantee stamp
- silversmith stamp LGL (Louis Germain Leblond, active from 1808 onwards)
The whole set is in excellent condition ; no lack, no chip.
